Open Mic Contest

Leading up to the SML Songwriters Festival, join us for our Open Mic Contest series — an exciting opportunity for local singers and songwriters to take the stage and showcase their talent.

Winners will earn the chance to perform at the SML Songwriters Festival and the SML Wine Festival. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or just getting started, this is your moment to step up and shine.

A few important things to know:

• This is NOT a karaoke contest and NOT strictly a songwriting contest.

• Participants must bring their own instruments and can be joined by 1 instrumentalist on stage.

• Registration begins at 6 PM. Participants must be registered by 7 PM.
• Each night includes 3 rounds of performances.
• The audience votes in the first 2 rounds through $1 donations (each $1 = 1 vote).
• The overall winner is selected by a guest judge and advances to the finale on June 10th.
• All donations support SML Good Neighbors and our veterans through American Legion Post 62.
• The same format applies for the finale.

🎶 Come prepared with at least 3 songs

This is your chance to showcase original music, but cover songs are welcome too — especially if you make them your own.

Some ways to stand out:
• Switch up the genre (turn a rock song into country, etc.).
• Change the arrangement or instrumentation.
• Add or tweak lyrics.
• Put your own spin on the vocal style.
